Realty Income Corporation is an American real estate investment trust headquartered in San Diego, California, founded in 1969 by William and Joan Clark and known for branding itself "The Monthly Dividend Company" because it pays dividends monthly rather than quarterly. It owns and leases a large portfolio of commercial properties, primarily free-standing retail and, more recently, industrial and gaming properties, under long-term net lease agreements with its tenants.
