Proximus Group is Belgium's largest telecommunications operator, headquartered in Brussels, majority owned by the Belgian federal government, and known under its historic name Belgacom before rebranding to Proximus in 2015 to unify its consumer, business and international carrier services under one identity. The company traces its origins to the Belgian state telegraph and telephone administration (RTT) and was corporatized and partially listed on Euronext Brussels in the early 2000s. Proximus operates Belgium's leading fixed-line, mobile and broadband/television networks and also owns BICS, a major international wholesale telecommunications carrier providing voice, messaging and connectivity services to operators worldwide, giving the group a wholesale business considerably larger in geographic reach than its core Belgian retail footprint.
