POSCO Holdings Inc. is a South Korean steel and industrial conglomerate headquartered in Pohang, South Korea, one of the largest steel producers in the world. It was founded in 1968 as the Pohang Iron and Steel Company with strong South Korean government backing as part of the country's postwar industrialization drive, and was fully privatized through a series of share offerings completed in 2000. In 2022 the company reorganized into a holding company structure, POSCO Holdings, overseeing its core steelmaking subsidiary POSCO along with businesses in battery materials, construction, trading and other industrial sectors. The battery materials business in particular has grown in importance as POSCO has positioned itself as a supplier of components for the electric vehicle industry.
