PeoplePC was an American internet service provider founded in October 1999 by Nick Grouf, Max Metral and David Waxman, bundling personal computers with dial-up internet access and discounted products funded partly through advertising and partnerships. Initially backed by SoftBank, the company went public on NASDAQ in August 2000 at ten dollars a share before EarthLink acquired it in 2002 for ten million dollars. The PeoplePC brand was retired in 2016 and its customers redirected to EarthLink.
