OzEmail Pty Limited was a major Australian internet service provider founded in 1992 by Sean Howard as Oz-E-mail, initially an email integration service connecting platforms such as Lotus cc:Mail, Microsoft Mail and Novell MHS with eight staff. It relaunched as an internet service provider in 1994 after investment from Malcolm Turnbull and Trevor Kennedy, competing with about 850 other Australian internet service providers by the late 1990s, and in 1996 became the first Australian technology stock to list on NASDAQ, raising more than 50 million Australian dollars, before also listing on the Australian Securities Exchange in 1998. WorldCom acquired full ownership in 1999, and the company was eventually absorbed into iiNet, which discontinued the OzEmail brand after acquiring it on February 28, 2005, though customers kept their usernames.
