Origin Energy Limited

Origin Energy Limited is an Australian energy company headquartered in Sydney, one of the largest electricity and gas retailers in Australia. It was formed in 2000 when Boral Limited demerged its energy division as an independent public company named Origin Energy. The company generates electricity from a mix of coal, gas and growing renewable sources, produces and sells natural gas, and retails electricity and gas to millions of Australian household and business customers, while also holding a substantial stake in Australia Pacific LNG, a large liquefied natural gas export project in Queensland. Origin Energy has stated plans to close its large Eraring coal-fired power station, historically Australia's largest, and to invest in renewable generation, batteries and other lower-carbon energy sources as part of Australia's broader electricity transition.
