Okryu-gwan

Okryu-gwan, meaning Jade Stream Pavilion, is a large state restaurant in Pyongyang, North Korea, standing on the bank of the Taedong River between Moran Hill and the Okryu Bridge. Founded in 1960, it is one of two restaurants that have defined the culinary life of Pyongyang since the 1980s and has been called a living museum of culinary art. The building holds up to 2,000 patrons across about 12,000 square meters of floor area, was renovated in 2008, and is known for serving Pyongyang style cold noodles, called raengmyon, while its research teams collect culinary data from across North Korea.
