Nucor Corporation is an American steel producer headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina, tracing to the Reo Motor Car Company and later the Nuclear Corporation of America before adopting the Nucor name in 1972 under longtime chief executive Ken Iverson, who pioneered the use of electric arc furnace mini-mill steelmaking from scrap steel rather than traditional blast furnaces. It grew into the largest steel producer in the United States, operating a network of mini-mills across the country.
