Nando's is a fast casual restaurant chain specializing in Portuguese style flame grilled peri-peri chicken, founded in Johannesburg, South Africa in 1987 by Fernando Duarte and Robert Brozin after they bought and renamed an existing Portuguese Mozambican takeaway called Chickenland. The name comes from a nickname for co-founder Fernando, and the chain's logo features the Rooster of Barcelos, a Portuguese symbol. Nando's operates more than 1,200 outlets across some 30 countries, and ownership passed to the family of the late Dick Enthoven following his death in 2022.
