MS&AD Insurance Group Holdings is a Japanese insurance holding company headquartered in Tokyo, formed in April 2010 when Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Group Holdings changed its name following the merger that combined the Mitsui Sumitomo and Aioi/Nissay Dowa insurance lines into a single group. It offers domestic non-life insurance, life insurance, international business lines and financial and risk-related services, and traces the lineage of its constituent insurers back to 1918. The group employs roughly 44,000 people and, together with Tokio Marine and Sompo, forms one of Japan's three dominant non-life insurance groups.
