Lasko Brewery is the largest brewery in Slovenia, located in and named after the town of Lasko. It was founded in 1825 by Franz Geyer, a gingerbread baker and mead producer, and by 1991 had become the largest of 28 Yugoslav breweries; it lost much of the Yugoslav market that year amid Slovenia's independence and the Ten-Day War, though sales rebounded through the 1990s, and in 2016 Lasko and Union were formally merged into Pivovarna Lasko Union d.d. under owner Heineken.
