Lam Research Corporation is an American supplier of wafer fabrication equipment and related services to the semiconductor industry, headquartered in Fremont, California. Its products are used primarily in front end wafer processing, the steps that create the active components of semiconductor devices and their interconnects, and the company also builds equipment for back end wafer level packaging and for related manufacturing markets such as microelectromechanical systems. Lam Research competes with the already-live Applied Materials, Inc. and KLA Corporation in the market for the specialized capital equipment used to fabricate integrated circuits.
