Kia Ora Stud

Kia Ora Stud is a thoroughbred horse breeding operation near Scone in the Hunter Valley, New South Wales, Australia, developed after Percy Miller bought the cattle property Kia-Ora from the Segenhoe Stud in 1914. It began selling yearlings at the Sydney Easter Sales in 1917 and, between 1917 and 1949, presented 2,862 yearlings, including 105 at the 1941 sale alone. Horses bred there have won seven Melbourne Cups and include the champions Gunsynd and Redoute Choice. Ownership passed from the Miller family, who held it until about 1959, to George Ryder and John Clift, and the property was sold again in 2000.
