Kardemir is a Turkish steel producer whose name is a contraction of the Karabuk Iron and Steel Works, established in 1937 with its primary facility in Karabuk in Turkey's Black Sea region. The company produces hot rolled round steel bars, steel beams and profiles, blooms, billets and beam blanks, and after operating for decades as a state enterprise, transitioned to private ownership in 1995; it is listed on the Istanbul Stock Exchange under the ticker KRDMA.
