The Iowa Traction Railway Company is a freight railroad headquartered in Mason City, Iowa, operating a 10.4-mile line between Mason City and Clear Lake with electric locomotives drawing power from overhead lines, one of only two remaining non-passenger electric railroads in the United States alongside Utah and Colorado's Deseret Power Railway. Founded in 1896 as the Mason City and Clear Lake Traction Company carrying both passengers and freight, it went freight-only in 1937, was renamed several times over the twentieth century, and was purchased by Progressive Rail in 2012, which gave it its current name.
