InterContinental Hotels Group PLC, marketed as IHG Hotels & Resorts, is a British multinational hospitality company headquartered in Windsor, Berkshire, England, formed in 2003 when the former brewing conglomerate Bass plc, having renamed itself Six Continents plc and sold its brewing interests, split into InterContinental Hotels Group and the pub operator Mitchells & Butlers. IHG operates a franchise- and management-based hotel business spanning numerous brands across market segments, including InterContinental, Holiday Inn, Holiday Inn Express, Crowne Plaza and Kimpton, making it one of the largest hotel groups in the world by number of rooms even though it owns very few of its properties directly. The company is listed on both the London Stock Exchange, where it is a constituent of the FTSE 100 Index, and the New York Stock Exchange.
