Ikarus, also known as Ikarus Bus and in Hungarian as Ikarus Autobuszgyar, is a bus manufacturer based in Budapest and Szekesfehervar, Hungary. It was established in 1895 as Imre Uhry's Blacksmith Workshop and Coach Factory and was relaunched on 8 February 1949. During the Communist era in Hungary it dominated the bus markets of the entire Eastern Bloc and its allies, and it built the Ikarus 280 articulated bus. It was briefly part of Irisbus between 1999 and 2003.
