Huawei is a Chinese multinational technology conglomerate headquartered in Shenzhen, founded in 1987 by Ren Zhengfei, a former officer of the People's Liberation Army. Originally focused on manufacturing telephone switches, it grew into one of the world's largest suppliers of telecommunications network equipment and consumer electronics, surpassing Ericsson in 2012 to become the world's largest telecommunications equipment manufacturer.
