Hess Corporation is an American global independent energy company headquartered in New York City, founded in 1933 by Leon Hess as an oil delivery business and later merged with Amerada Petroleum in 1969 to form Amerada Hess. It explores for and produces crude oil and natural gas, with major operations offshore Guyana and in the Bakken shale region of North Dakota.
