Saipem is an Italian oilfield services company, founded in 1957, that describes itself as one of the largest in its industry worldwide. It provides engineering and construction for offshore and onshore projects and operates drilling rigs, drillships and floating production, storage and offloading vessels. The Italian energy company Eni owned Saipem outright until 2016 and still holds about 30 percent of its shares following a partial divestiture.
