Grupo Modelo is a Mexican brewery founded in 1925 in Mexico City by a group of investors including Braulio Iriarte and Martin Oyamburu, producing beer brands such as Corona, Modelo and Pacifico that are exported worldwide. It became a wholly owned subsidiary of Anheuser-Busch InBev in June 2013, after AB InBev paid 20.1 billion dollars for the remaining half it did not already own. The company led Mexico's domestic beer market with roughly 63 percent share as of 2008, and in the United States its Modelo Especial brand overtook Bud Light as the top-selling beer by retail dollar sales in May 2023, though United States distribution rights there are held separately by Constellation Brands.
