Getlink S.E., formerly Groupe Eurotunnel, is a European public company based in Paris that manages and operates the infrastructure of the Channel Tunnel between France and the United Kingdom. It runs the LeShuttle railway service and earns revenue from other trains that use the tunnel, such as Eurostar passenger trains and freight services. Groupe Eurotunnel was established on 13 August 1986 to finance, build and operate the tunnel under a concession from the French and British governments, and the tunnel opened on 6 May 1994 after costs overran from an estimated 4.7 billion pounds to 9.5 billion. The company entered bankruptcy protection in 2006, and a restructuring approved in 2007 was followed by its first profitable year. It took the name Getlink on 20 November 2017.
