Gerdau

Gerdau is the largest producer of long steel in the Americas and the 33rd largest steelmaker worldwide, founded on 16 January 1901 and headquartered in Porto Alegre, with approximately 13 million tons of production in 2023. It uses mini mills, integrated mills and direct reduced iron plants, and 71 percent of the steel it manufactures is made from recycled scrap; in 2023, 39 percent of sales went to Brazil and 39 percent to North America. Substantially all of its common shares are owned by Jorge Gerdau Johannpeter and his family, while its non voting preferred shares are publicly traded.
