G4S is a British multinational private security company headquartered in London, now a subsidiary of Allied Universal. It was set up in July 2004 when the London firm Securicor amalgamated with the Danish firm Group 4 Falck, which was itself the result of an earlier merger between Group 4 and the security division of Falck. The company supplies security personnel, monitoring equipment, response units and secure prisoner transportation, and it also works with governments overseas to deliver security services. Before its acquisition it was the largest security company in the world by revenue, with operations in more than 90 countries and over 533,000 employees. It has been criticised and involved in numerous controversies. Formerly listed in Copenhagen and London, it was bought by Allied Universal in April 2021.
