Fujitsu Limited is a Japanese information technology company headquartered in Tokyo, one of the largest IT services companies in Japan and among the largest in the world by revenue. It was founded in 1935 as Fuji Telecommunications Equipment Manufacturing, spun off from the Fuji Electric company, which itself had been a joint venture between Furukawa Electric and the German company Siemens. Fujitsu built early Japanese telephone switching equipment before expanding into computers, becoming a major manufacturer of mainframes and, later, supercomputers, including systems that have ranked among the fastest in the world. Today the company focuses primarily on IT services, systems integration, cloud computing and digital transformation consulting for corporate and government clients, alongside continued hardware and networking equipment production.
