Franco-Nevada Corporation is a Canadian gold-focused royalty and streaming company headquartered in Toronto, originally founded in 1982 by Pierre Lassonde and Seymour Schulich and later spun back out as an independent public company in 2007 by Lassonde. Like Wheaton Precious Metals, Franco-Nevada does not operate mines directly; instead it provides capital to mining companies in exchange for royalty or streaming interests in their production, primarily gold, giving it exposure to mining output while avoiding most of the operating costs and risks that mining companies themselves carry.
