Foster's Group was an Australian beer producer and beverage group founded in 1888 in Melbourne by American brothers William and Ralph Foster, who used their refrigeration plant to brew lagers suited to Australia's hot climate at a time when English-style dark ales dominated local production. Headquartered in Southbank, Melbourne, the company's business spanned brewing and soft drinks. Following ownership changes through SABMiller and Anheuser-Busch InBev, its brewing operations now trade as Carlton and United Breweries under Japanese ownership by Asahi Group Holdings, which acquired the business in June 2020.
