Equinix, Inc. is an American data center and colocation company headquartered in Redwood City, California, founded in 1998 to operate neutral internet exchange facilities where multiple networks could connect to each other. It grew into the largest data center colocation provider in the world by revenue, leasing data center space and interconnection services to cloud providers, network operators and enterprises across dozens of countries, and it converted to a real estate investment trust in 2015.
