Denny's is an American diner style restaurant chain headquartered in Spartanburg, South Carolina, tracing its origins to a donut shop opened in Lakewood, California in 1953 that grew into a full service, round the clock family restaurant chain under founders Harold Butler and Richard Jezak. Known for its Grand Slam breakfast, introduced in 1977, the chain operates around 1,500 restaurants in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Puerto Rico and other countries, mostly through franchisees. In January 2026 Denny's was acquired by a group of investment firms, TriArtisan Capital Advisors, Treville Capital Group and Yadav Enterprises, in a deal valued at 620 million dollars.
