Corning Incorporated is an American materials science company headquartered in Corning, New York, founded in 1851 as Corning Flint Glass Works. It has developed specialty glass, ceramics and optical technologies for more than a century, including the glass used in early television tubes, the optical fiber that underpins modern telecommunications networks, and Gorilla Glass, the toughened glass used on the screens of many smartphones and other consumer devices.
