Cooperativa La Cruz Azul is a Mexican cement company headquartered in Coyoacan, Mexico City, founded in 1881 by British businessman Henry Gibbon as a private firm before becoming a worker-owned cooperative on November 2, 1931 with 192 founding members. It operates cement plants in Tula, Hidalgo and Lagunas, Oaxaca, also produces ready-mix concrete and aggregates, expanded across North America after the 1994 creation of NAFTA, and competes primarily against Cemex.
