Cognizant Technology Solutions Corporation is an American multinational information technology services and consulting company headquartered in Teaneck, New Jersey. It was founded in 1994 as an in-house technology unit of the business information company Dun and Bradstreet before being spun off as an independent company. Cognizant grew rapidly by combining a United States based sales and account management structure with a large offshore delivery workforce concentrated in India, a model that became widely adopted across the IT services industry. The company provides digital, technology, consulting and business process services to large corporate clients and is a component of the Nasdaq-100 index.
