CNOOC Limited

CNOOC Limited is a Chinese offshore oil and gas exploration and production company headquartered in Beijing, the publicly listed arm of the state-owned China National Offshore Oil Corporation. It was established in 1982 when the Chinese government created China National Offshore Oil Corporation to develop the country's offshore oil and gas resources, often in partnership with foreign oil companies, and CNOOC Limited itself was formed and listed in Hong Kong and New York in 1999 and 2001 to hold the group's upstream exploration and production assets. The company produces oil and natural gas from fields in the South China Sea and Bohai Bay, and has expanded internationally with production assets in Guyana, Uganda, Brazil and other countries, becoming one of the largest offshore oil producers in the world.
