The Chicago, Peoria and St. Louis Railroad, in its final incorporation from December 1909, operated a main line between Pekin, near Peoria, and Madison, near St. Louis, by way of Springfield, Illinois, along with branches to Jacksonville and Grafton. Its property was sold at foreclosure in November 1924 to four separate buyers; the northern portion became the Illinois and Midland Railroad, a section near St. Louis is now owned by Norfolk Southern Railway, and most of the remainder was abandoned.
