Charrington Brewery

Charrington Brewery was a British brewing company established in the early 18th century in Bethnal Green, London, by Robert Westfield, expanding significantly when John Charrington joined in 1766 and the operation relocated to the Anchor Brewery in Stepney. It operated as an independent brewer for nearly two centuries, becoming the second largest brewer in London by 1807 to 1808 with annual production over 20,000 barrels, before merging with Bass and other firms in 1967 to form Bass Charrington Limited, which later sold its brewing operations to Interbrew in 2000; the company manufactured and distributed beer from facilities including Burton-upon-Trent, London and several regional breweries.
