Centrica plc is a British energy and services company headquartered in Windsor, England, formed in 1997 when British Gas plc demerged its supply and retail business from its exploration and production arm, which became BG Group. Centrica retains the British Gas retail brand as its principal business, supplying gas and electricity to homes and businesses in the United Kingdom and Ireland, and also operates wider energy services alongside its retail supply business.
