Celle State Stud

Celle State Stud is a state-owned horse breeding facility in Celle, in the Lower Saxony region of Germany. It was established by royal decree of King George II of Great Britain, who was also Elector of Hanover and Duke of Brunswick-Luneburg, on 27 July 1735, with the original purpose of making high-quality stallions available to local breeders. The stud today houses around 140 stallions that serve roughly 8,000 broodmares each year, and is closely associated with the Hanoverian horse breed. It is particularly known for its annual stallion parades, held since 1908, which draw significant tourist interest.
