CarMax, Inc.

CarMax, Inc. is the largest used-vehicle retailer in the United States, headquartered in Richmond, Virginia. It was founded in 1993 as a subsidiary of the electronics retailer Circuit City, built around a no-haggle, fixed-price model for buying and selling used cars that was unusual in the industry at the time, and it became an independent public company when Circuit City spun it off in 2002. CarMax operates large used-car superstores across the United States and has expanded into online vehicle sales and financing, continuing to sell and service used vehicles long after its former parent company, Circuit City, went out of business in 2009.
