Canico Resource Corp. was a Vancouver-based junior mining company established in 2004 to develop the Onca-Puma nickel laterite project in Brazil's Para state, described as one of the world's best undeveloped nickel projects, with feasibility studies projecting annual output of 57,000 tons of nickel at a development cost of about 1.1 billion dollars. The company was also known for its involvement at the Serra dos Carajas mine, one of the largest iron ore mines in the world. Companhia Vale do Rio Doce acquired Canico Resource in December 2005, folding it into what remains one of the largest metals and mining companies globally.
