Camerons Brewery

Camerons Brewery is an English brewing company founded in 1865 by John William Cameron in Stranton, Hartlepool, County Durham, and is the largest independent brewer in North East England, with a brewing capacity of 1.5 million hectolitres a year and a tied estate of 75 public houses. It grew through acquisitions to control 750 licensed premises across the North East and North Yorkshire by the 1960s before regional economic decline and a series of corporate owners between 1974 and 2002 cost it its independence, which it has since regained under Castle Eden Brewery ownership. Its flagship beer, the ruby red bitter Strongarm introduced in 1955, had exceeded one billion pints in cumulative production by 2000.
