The Burry Port and Gwendraeth Valley Railway was a Welsh mineral railway company formed under an 1866 act of Parliament through the incorporation of the Kidwelly and Burry Port Railway Company and the Burry Port Harbour Company, built by converting a canal into a railway to carry coal, anthracite and limestone from Carmarthenshire collieries and quarries to the sea at Kidwelly, with a network reaching Burry Port, Trimsaran, Pwll and Sandy near Llanelli. It was absorbed by the Great Western Railway in 1922 under the Railways Act 1921 grouping, became part of British Railways after nationalization in 1948, and lost its last section in 1998 after passenger service had ended in 1953.
