Budweiser Budvar Brewery is a Czech state-owned brewery headquartered in Ceske Budejovice, founded in 1895 as the Czech Joint Stock Brewery and formally incorporated as Budejovicky Budvar, narodni podnik. It brews pale lagers using artesian water, Moravian barley and Saaz hops, producing nearly 1.946 million hectoliters in 2025, its record output, and ranks as the fourth-largest beer producer in the Czech Republic and the country's second-largest beer exporter. The brewery continues a brewing tradition in the city dating to 1265 and has been engaged in a century-long trademark dispute with the American Anheuser-Busch over rights to the Budweiser name.
