BrewDog is a multinational brewery and pub chain founded in 2007 in Fraserburgh, Scotland by James Watt and Martin Dickie, headquartered in Ellon, Aberdeenshire. It grew into one of Europe's largest craft brewers, describing itself as the top craft brewer in Europe and the seventh-largest beer brand in Britain, operating in 57 countries with more than 129 bars as of 2023 following a 2017 stake sale to private equity firm TSG Consumer Partners. On March 2, 2026 American cannabis and consumer goods company Tilray acquired BrewDog's UK and Ireland operations for 33 million pounds through a pre-pack administration deal; the company built its early reputation on deliberately provocative marketing campaigns and publicity stunts.
