Birmingham Student Housing Co-operative is a registered cooperative business, formally an industrial and provident society trading as Birmingham Student Housing Co-operative Limited, that provides self managed, affordable rental housing for its student members in Birmingham, England. It opened in June 2014 as the first operational student housing co-operative in the United Kingdom, and it manages a residential property on Pershore Road in the Selly Oak area of the city, leased from The Phone Co-op through a Co-operative and Social Economy Development Fund. Its members live cooperatively, make decisions about the property democratically, carry out property improvements themselves, and open membership applications to new student members twice a year through a transparent selection process. The co-operative is one of the founding members of Students for Cooperation, a UK network that also includes sister student housing cooperatives in Edinburgh and Sheffield.
