Austrian Federal Railways, known in German as Osterreichische Bundesbahnen and abbreviated OBB, is Austria's national railway company, headquartered in Vienna and wholly owned by the Austrian state. Its lineage traces to the nationalization of Austria's major private railways after the First World War, and the company has been reorganized several times since, most recently into a holding structure grouping separate units for infrastructure, passenger service and freight. OBB operates Austria's domestic rail network and long-distance Railjet services, and it has expanded its Nightjet sleeper-train network to connect Austrian cities with destinations across much of Europe.
