Allied Universal is an American private security and staffing company with offices in Conshohocken, Pennsylvania and Irvine, California. It was formed in 2016 through the merger of AlliedBarton and Universal Services of America, two existing security businesses, and the current company dates from that merger. According to its encyclopedia entry it is the largest provider of private security guards in the world. The same entry reports that it is the third largest United States based employer globally, with about 800,000 employees, which places a security and staffing business among the very largest private workforces anywhere. Its identity as both a guarding firm and a staffing firm is why it sits in the industrial sector of this atlas.
