An American industrial pioneer in the automotive industry who was the founder and namesake of Chrysler Corporation. He rose from machinist and railroad mechanic to works manager at Buick Motor Company and an executive at General Motors, then acquired and phased out the Maxwell Motor Company to found Chrysler Corporation in Detroit in 1925, later financing construction of the Chrysler Building.
