Walter Elias Disney was an American animator, film producer, voice actor, and entrepreneur, born 5 December 1901 in Chicago and died 15 December 1966 in Burbank, California. He moved to California in the early 1920s and founded the Disney Brothers Studio with his brother Roy, developing Mickey Mouse in 1928 and creating landmark animated features including Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Pinocchio, Fantasia, Dumbo, and Bambi. He later expanded the company into theme parks, opening Disneyland in 1955 and beginning development of what became Disney World before his death, and he holds the record for the most Academy Awards won by an individual.
