Kamal "Kam" Ghaffarian is an Iranian-born American businessman who focuses on the space industry and new energies. Born in Iran, he came to the United States at seventeen, worked for Lockheed Martin on NASA contracts and then founded Stinger Ghaffarian Technologies in 1994 with Harold Stinger; the company became NASA’s second-largest engineering services contractor before KBR acquired it in 2018. He founded X-energy in 2009 and co-founded Intuitive Machines in 2013, Axiom Space in 2016 and Quantum Space in 2020. In 2019 he established the Limitless Space Institute, a non-profit focused on research and education toward interstellar exploration.
