William Redington Hewlett (May 20, 1913 to January 12, 2001) was an American engineer and the co-founder, with David Packard, of the Hewlett-Packard Company. He was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and moved with his family to San Francisco in 1916 after his father took a position at Stanford Medical School. He attended Lowell High School, received his bachelor's degree from Stanford in 1934, a master of science degree in electrical engineering from MIT in 1936 and a post-masters engineering degree from Stanford in 1939. He is also known for Hewlett's oscillator.
